Long ago, well about fifteen years ago, Two little wee girls came to these lands to live with their parents, their names were Lizzie and Becky. Lizzie is the oldest girl... she was nine when she discovered these woods. and Becky was six at the time (almost seven). Both girls adventurous, lively and full of life and love for nature and adventures!
As the years went on the girls created houses, forts, play kitchens, you name it, they most likely created it over the years in our wooded back yard! Some of the stories they share with me (their mom) now just make me smile and wish I could have those (little wee girls back)
But now with those little girls grown up and in college and living on their own, I hope it is OK, for a mom to play, create, be adventurous, and create new friendships along the way~ while sharing photos of the past and of the present and see how the two will merge into a great story.
What have we here? Some holes!! Big ones too,...and see that stump off to the left of the picture? Last year some strong winds came though our wooded area and snapped off most of our evergreen trees. This is the remainder of what used to be one of my favorite trees.... I sure hope that it can become a favorite spot again!
Mmmmmm Raspberry and Blueberry shrubs planted. I can not wait to eat some fresh fruit that was planted just today in my wooded area....Do you like to eat fresh berries too?
Take a close look at my stump...Do you see anything special about it?
After I planted the berry bushes, and cleaned up around my old stump, I watered my bushes. New plants and trees and flowers, they all need water just like people need water.
On my walk today I came across some fun things to place near my stump.. I found some rocks, a few pine cones left over from my favorite tree and on the ground is a bird nest that I found.
I like to collect things, and I like to save pretty things because I like to play too!! here is a plastic jar with a fancy lid on it. I wonder if I can make anything from that? I found some old bracelet pieces.... and an earring with no match....a small bamboo trellis... wow....lot of fun goodies

It was a warm morning for a walk, but on the way to the wooded area I came across these eggs/
Kind of a funny place to have a nest in the rocks...............................After I sat a few minutes and watched the mo9ther bird did come back to the nest....This belongs to a killdeer bird.
Upon getting closer to the wooded area I thought I could see some new activity....
Indeed there was!!! I see the yellow pail.. and llok at this little house with the butterflies on it.
and one of my garden lights....well I guess fairies need light too!! I can not wait to see what can be created.

Took a walk to the Fairy Garden today and saw a few changes......some new flowers I got from the local hardware store
Shhhhhhh....do not wake the fairy.......Looks like she is sleeping in a bird nest.
Small rock chairs and table..... some ceramic mushrooms....
Fish in the pond..................
Isn't she pretty...........?
Ahhhhh Yes getting into shape....................................
Indeed we did have company.................and such a delight........ as I sit and read the other blogs and watch as the young children bring magical moments into their lives.......I am here to be a witness that even the bigger kids love the magical moments...............................
Oldest daughter here,...just graduated college................. spending some time in all the gardens over others day weekend
She did a circular perimeter of tulips in purple and white to give a boundary to Fairylands...The downfall to this is we will not see them until next Spring.... but delightful as I am positive fairies along with the butterflies will enjoy such delight next year....as will I!!
Just capturing a magical moment as she decides where to place things
Then along comes the youngest daughter to assist............... who has always been the flower planter in the family since she was just little.............
and now as you can see from the shirt...........still much involved somehow in yard and garden work!!
A Mother's magical capture as she too decides how to place some items.,
after about half hour they got it figured out.......... organized and planted.....
I think it is coming together nicely..................... slow process since all the flowers are being planted from seeds............ but I will be posting as the garden blooms....and allows magical things to happen~...........................................
Not so many years back we had an old shed....in this area.......two little girls and many hours spent in the woods exploring......along with that came kitties....puppies.....bunnies.....they had their own magical minutes in those times and it was indeed great to see some of the magic come back in the smiles and good times as both girls ventured back home to some peace and quiet from their busy lives............................. Never let the magic end............
Indeed I am Blessed!

Last week I did some dusk and early evening photo shoots of fairylands to try and capture the lit garden
I love looking down there at night and can not help but wonder if anything is happening~
Just a different angle as the garden lights begin to glow
Recall a post earlier in regards to the birds nest..........Well above is the mother Killdeer....
This is a close up of a brand new hatched killdeer...they are so small..but when a predator is close or they feel threatened they by instinct lay flat to the ground...........
Not long after they are hatched they are able to get up and run.......... I know these little guys really are not part of fairly lands...but they did end up on a path on my way to fairly-lands....so decided to just share that part of for those who live in an area where you can not see this happening..........................
But I did come across something I have not seen in the yard before..............although not a butterfly....at least I do not think it is...................and not sure that it is a moth.....??
This was not too far from Fairly-lands......laying in the grass.....at first I thought it was dead..... but when I got too close the wings would move and it did crawl around on the grass...perhaps the start of magical happenings in Fairly-lands??...............Have a Blessed Week~

Updates created in fairy-lands.....Added an old wheel rim we found.......A place for the fairies to flutter through and play upon...
The ground growth is getting bigger......just about covers the little shrooms!!
Newly seeded flowers are sprouting.................
Along the edge of fairly lands are some new red bushes............
I want to share with you a creation I made in my studio this past week......although it is not part of the fairy lands here it does involve fairies......... I will continue to update photos of fairy lands as it develops..but since this is a brand new perennial garden the process will slow down now unless I add new things, which I know I will be......but as far as flowers and colors that may not come until another year!!...
I bought some lime green plastic dishes...............ground cover moss........
some silk flowers
b egan to play with some ideas.......
and it started to form............................
beach theme and wooded hidden area under the beach...ahhh seems almost perfect
so much fun......
all kinds of things to find in the sandy beach and the wood lands....
August update......really nothing new to post since this was a new area for the year.....In spite of how hot it has been.....the garden stayed green for me
a pot of herbs doing well along with a new sign in the garden path...............
Close up of one of the red bushes///
Soon harvest will be upon us and the fairies will settle in the deeper woods for winter survival.......as this happens and takes place I will update more......................
( Check back in 3-5 weeks for updates..................)

Looking forward to more posts on your in ground fairy garden. Nice job getting creative with the plan and design out in nature.
ReplyDeleteI was thrilled to see the killdeer in your fairyland. All fairies love and protect the animals around them! We found a killdeer nest this year, and my kids have been fascinated by them ever since!
